GREAT Dog Needs Home!

Submitted by Erin Barber:

We have been fostering a dog that came to our house a few months back. I
thought I would post here in case his family is still looking for him!  The vet
estimates he is 2 years old.  Perhaps ~65lbs.

In case he is not claimed, we must find him a new home.  He
is a bit large and energetic for our young kids.  However, he is a
GREAT dog – loves to play ball, and doesn’t bark unless there is an issue
(like the three rattlesnakes he’s alerted us to in the past few weeks).

  • Be a Foster Family for the Holidays

animalLogoDecember 11, 2013 (Williamson County, TX) – The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is offering an opportunity for families to foster healthy animals over the Christmas holiday.

Any family or individual desiring to foster a dog or cat from December 22 to January 2 can apply to be a foster parent through the shelter’s website at www.wilcopets.org. The Christmas fostering program’s goal is to have all the shelter’s 350 dogs and cats in a foster home over the Christmas holidays. The program gives both animals and staff a needed break.

“It is good for the animals to have a break from shelter life and spend time socializing with people, and it is good for the staff that still have to come in, clean up and feed the animals that are here…even on Christmas Day,” says Cheryl Schneider, Williamson County Regional Animal Services director. “The fewer animals we have, the less time staff members spend away from their families. It is also a great opportunity for families to have a trial run if they are considering a dog or cat as a companion animal.”

Foster family applications must be completed by Friday, December 20. Families can specify if they want to take a dog or cat and the approximate size animal their home will accommodate. Animals are then matched with a family and must be picked up before the shelter closes at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and returned between December 26 and January 2.

The shelter is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adjusted holiday hours for the shelter include closures on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as well as closing at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, December 31. The shelter is located at 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown. To reach the shelter from IH-35, take Exit 259 and go east two miles. The shelter is located on the north side of the road just east of FM 1460. For more information, call Cheryl Schneider at 943-3322.

  • Cats Need a Home

    Submitted by Lynn:

We have a relative that had a stroke and we need to find homes for her 4 cats. They have all been mostly inside cats. They are all neutered and/or spayed and are current on their shots. The one named Boots is a 12 year neutered cat that is a gray tabby and white color and is happy to sit around and be with someone that needs him. And there are 3 that are brother and sisters and are 2 year olds. The male neutered cat is black and white and there is a spayed female that is yellow and white and very sweet and just loves to be pet and then there is a spayed female that is very shy and i have not been able to catch her. If you have any place for these cats, please let me know by email at {This email is obscured. Your must have javascript enabled to see it}  or by texting me at 512-496-6771 and feel free to share this with others. I have attached pictures of 3 of the cats.
