Susan Garry Joins the Coupland Times

Susan Garry is joining the Coupland Times as a contributor. Most of our readers probably know Susan or at least recognize her name.

Susan Garry has been editor of the Coupland Herald newsletter since 2003.  She hopes to help keep our community together by keeping our community informed.  The Herald is published by the Coupland Civic Organization (CCO) and is a totally volunteer effort, except for the printing and postage.  The advertising revenue helps pay for printing and mailing.

The Herald runs regular columns from the CCO president, St. Peter’s Church, and Coupland School.  Also, Susan covers special CCO and other community events, business profiles, and human interest stories.  The Herald has kept residents informed about undesirable projects that could harm our area, such as the Lund sludge farm and the Trans-Texas Corridor.

Susan is on the CCO board and in addition to producing the Herald, she helps with the CCO’s publicity.  She writes a monthly column of Coupland news for the Taylor Daily Press.  She holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

She is married to Buz Garry, and they live on the Garry farm.  They have three grown daughters and two grandchildren.  Their granddaughter Susan is an eighth-grader at Coupland School.

Susan also serves on the new Coupland City Council. Here she is taking her oath of office.
