Countywide Voting Centers Coming to Williamson County

From the Williamson County Public Information Office:Wilco

STATE APPROVES APPLICATION FOR VOTE CENTERS

July 29, 2013 (Williamson County, TX) – The Texas Secretary of State’s Office approved Williamson County’s application to participate in the Countywide Polling Place program for the November 5, 2013, Constitutional Amendment Election. The program will eliminate county election precinct polling places and establish countywide polling places or Vote Centers so that voters can go to any voting location on Election Day. The program was successfully used for the May election and already has been implemented successfully in Travis County.

Vote Centers are all electronic so that voters can access any ballot style at any of the Vote Center locations. The Vote Center concept is similar to Early Voting in which all voting is electronic and voters can vote at any polling location. Currently, approximately 65 percent of Williamson County voters participate in early voting.

Paper ballots will still be available through Ballot by Mail for qualified voters. Registered voters who are 65 years or older, disabled, out of the county on Election Day and the entire period of early voting can request a Ballot by Mail. Voters can apply for Ballot by Mail starting Friday, September 6, 2013, and applications must be received by the Elections Office by Friday, October 25, 2013. All voters requesting mail ballots must return their marked ballots via the USPS or contract carrier (FedEx, DHL, etc.).

The last day to register to vote in the November 5 election is Monday, October 7, 2013. Early voting begins on Monday, October 21, 2013, until Friday, November 1, 2013.
